Hi, I'm Melanie
Certified Parent Coach, former Educational Assistant, and mom to an autistic teen. Someone who knows firsthand that change is possible.
I didn't start as a coach. I started as someone who understood.
I’m a mom of two incredible boys, including a neurodivergent teen. Raising him has been one of the most humbling, exhausting, challenging, and rewarding experiences of my life. I’ve experienced the overwhelm, the self-doubt, the conflicting advice, and the loneliness that can come with parenting a child whose higher needs don’t fit neatly into the mainstream parenting books.
Along the way, I discovered something powerful: when parents are supported, equipped with the right tools, and learn to lead with calm, connection, and confidence, real change is possible.
My professional experience as an Educational Assistant allowed me to work closely with children and families and deepened my understanding of the challenges many parents face. But it was my own parenting journey that shaped my passion for this work.
The strategies, language, and tools I share with families aren’t just things I’ve learned professionally - they’re things I’ve used in my own home. I’ve seen firsthand that progress doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from understanding your child, adjusting expectations, and having the right support along the way.
That’s why I do this work. Because no parent should have to navigate it alone.
Because no parent should have to navigate this alone.
The strategies, the language, the calm I talk about - I use them every day in my own home. My hope is that by sharing what I’ve learned, I can give other parents a shorter, less lonely road.
Let's ConnectA foundation built on real expertise
My coaching is backed by formal education in human development and social services - not just lived experience. I believe you deserve a coach who has invested in their own professional foundation.

Former Educational Assistant
Years of hands-on experience supporting neurodivergent and higher-needs children in school settings, working alongside educators, therapists, and families.
Certified Parent Coach
Dedicated practice supporting families raising higher-needs and neurodivergent children through calm, connection-based parenting strategies.
Why I Became a Certified Parent Coach
I’ve experienced firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to parent a child with higher needs - and how much difference the right support can make. Through both my own parenting journey and my years working with families as an Educational Assistant, I’ve seen that real change happens when parents feel equipped, empowered, and understood. That’s why I do this work.
The CALM framework
Everything I do is rooted in calm, connection-based parenting. Here's what that means in practice.
Connection First
Before any strategy, behaviour change, or goal-setting - we establish genuine connection. With your child. With yourself. With this process. Connection is the foundation everything else is built on.
Awareness & Attunement
Understanding your child's nervous system - and your own - is transformative. I help you decode behaviour, recognize triggers, and respond rather than react.
Led by Compassion
No shame. No blame. This work is done with deep respect for how hard parenting a higher-needs child truly is - and with genuine belief that you are exactly the right parent for your child.
Momentum & Practical Tools
Insights are valuable, but real change requires action. I send you away from every session with concrete, real-world strategies you can implement immediately - built around your unique family.
What to expect from coaching with me
You will always feel:
Heard and seen - I listen deeply, without judgment. Your experience is valid, full stop.
Deeply understood - I know this road from the inside. You don't have to explain yourself here.
Grounded in hope - Even the most overwhelmed parents can and do find their calm. I've seen it.
Practically supported - We don't just talk. You'll leave with real tools and a clear next step.
Coaching is NOT:
Therapy or mental health treatment (though it complements both beautifully)
Coaching is not a quick fix. It’s an opportunity to build the tools, understanding, and confidence you need to navigate parenting challenges long after our work together is done.
A place to diagnose your child - my role is to support and guide parents, not provide clinical assessments or diagnoses.
A one-size-fits-all formula - every session is tailored entirely to your family
